Nursery Development Opportunity in Maryhill Burgh Halls

Maryhill Burgh Halls are being comprehensively redeveloped and brought back into use by the Maryhill Burgh Halls Trust. Through refurbishment, selective demolition and new build, the Trust will develop a building that offers facilities for the local community as well as flexible facilities for third sector, social economy, community organisations and businesses to locate in the area.

The refurbished Burgh Halls will offer high quality facilities in a building designed to high standards of environmentally sustainable design.  In addition to the nursery space outlined below, facilities will include:

·   The Hall – a focus for events and functions

·   Office space  - the building will offer some 14,500sq ft (1,350 sq m) of directly lettable business space in up to 13 discrete business units to be available from early 2011

·   A café

·   Landscaped garden space and courtyard

·   Meeting rooms

·   Music recording facilities and a community music project.

·   Gallery and interpretation space

The building is due to open in Summer 2011. The refurbishment of the buildings complex is complementary to the redevelopment of the adjacent buildings (the former Baths and Fire Station) by Glasgow City Council to form a local community sports and leisure centre, which opened at Easter 2010.

The facility sits on a major access route from the North of Glasgow into the city centre. The building will be open seven days a week. More information on the project can be found by visiting http://www.maryhillburghhalls.org.uk/

Maryhill Burgh Halls Trust will offer premises for a childcare provider to offer day care services for up to 40 children. The premises will be newly constructed; offering 2659 sq ft of modern purpose built facilities for children from 0-5 and will include separate rooms for children aged 0-2, 2-3 and 3-5.

The design will feature a secure entry system and access to an outside play area which will be secure and enclosed, recognising the importance of fresh air and active play to children’s development. On street parking is available.

A plan of the nursery space and outdoor area is available to view at   http://www.maryhillburghhalls.org.uk/project/

The facility will be available with full plumbing and drainage, toilets and sinks and connections to services.  The tenant of the nursery is responsible for the supply of fittings, furnishing and white goods.

Lessees are responsible for their own marketing and promotion.

Estimated annual rental is c. £20,000 per annum plus service charges of around £17,000, (excluding rates and electricity – which will be metered separately). VAT at the prevailing rate will be added.

A detailed Pre qualifying questionnaire is now available for completion by interested organisations for submission by Monday 5th July. The purpose of this questionnaire is to allow Maryhill Burgh Halls to identify a small number of suitably qualified and experienced companies who will be invited to submit a more detailed tender for this service. A copy can be obtained from http://www.publiccontractsscotland.gov.uk/ or directly by emailing abrooks@mbht.org.uk
